The Drome - discover an unspoilt region
Our guide leads five easy day walks, each designed to showcase a different side of the region. We’ll explore the ‘haut plateau’ of Vercors National Park, once a stronghold of the French Resistance, taking in stunning views north to the French Alps and south to Provence. Along the way, you may spot the majestic griffon vulture, with its nine-foot wingspan, soaring on the thermals above.
To the east, we travel up the valley to discover surprising locations where the walking is gentle but the scenery is breathtaking, while learning about the heritage and way of life in the Drôme.
Heading south, the region takes on a distinctly Mediterranean character, from the landscape and architecture to the vegetation. We’ll wander through sleepy villages in this wonderfully unspoilt corner of Europe. The walking is always easy, with the minibus doing the hard work.
Each evening, enjoy a four-course meal freshly prepared with local ingredients, paired with wines from the Rhône region.
By the end of the week, you’ll have gained a deeper appreciation of the traditional French way of life—its food and wine, culture, and heritage.
